While some people believe that blogging has ruined journalism, I disagree. I believe that it has made it easier to get information out to the public in a timely manner. Each blogger is essentially a journalist, and can report on whatever they want.
It is because of this that a wide range of topics are being covered. While Joe Schmo might be reporting on the latest albums that came out, Jane Doe might be writing about her trip to the Netherlands. Blogging is a free, easy means of writing, and I believe it encourages more people to write.
Those same people who say they have troubles writing and could never write an article aren't as intimidated when making a blog post. It feels more natural to them and has less formal rules. It includes them in the field of journalism.
